The Supremes were the premier Motown girl group of the 1960s. Formed in Detroit, they became the most successful American vocal group in history, scoring twelve number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100. Most hits, like “Stop! In the Name of Love,” were crafted by the team Holland–Dozier–Holland.
