38 Special is an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1974. Founded by singer-guitarists Donnie Van Zant and Don Barnes, the group became a staple of the Southern rock scene. They are known for a string of arena rock hits throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s.
