On Saturday night (10th September), the charity I’m Chairman of, Radio Northwick Park, celebrated their 40th Anniversary in style with a gala dinner, attended by over 100 people. I opened the night by welcoming everyone and then made a speech about the current state of the charity, the future and thanking all those who have volunteered their time over the years.

I started my speech with,

“It’s with great honour that I stand here today as Chairman of a charity that has had a spectacular history and a bright future. In times like this it is important to celebrate ones own achievements. You’ve all made people smile, cry, feel like they’re not alone and it’s rare we take a moment to really reflect on the work we do.”

As part of my speech, I showed a short documentary that was specially commissioned to mark the charity’s 40th Anniversary. I am in the film a number of times as a talking head and believe the film shows the charity off really well. Please do take a look:
